People are curious creatures and we are always seeking the answers to the many questions that we have. When it comes to water consumption, people often have a number of questions relating to water.

How Much Water do I Need to Drink?

It is well documented that humans should be drinking no less than 8 glasses or 2litres of water a day. However there has been some suggestion that women should be drinking at least 12 glasses a day, and men 16. If you feel as if you are not getting in enough water during the day, have a water bottle with you at all times.

Is Tap Water Good to Drink?

Tap water is safe to drink, however when it is filtered at water plants not all bacteria and toxins are completely removed from the water. This is one of the biggest factors in a person’s decisions not to drink water and consume unhealthy, sugary beverages instead, which ultimately cause more harm than good.

How Can I Improve my Drinking Water?

There are a number of reasons as to why people don’t drink enough water. One of which is the taste. Some don’t like the taste of water and therefore choose not to drink. However, there is a solution to this problem and that is to invest in a water cooler. Not only does it keep the water cool all year round; it is pure, meaning it is free of any chemicals that can be found in tap water and has a much smoother and cleaner taste.

Why Should I Drink Water?

Aside from the fact our body is predominantly made up of water, we need it to function properly. Our brains need it so we can remain focused, our skin needs to be hydrated so it doesn’t dry out and it helps our kidneys flush out nasty toxins that are floating around in our bodies.

It’s true that water is nature’s medicine, and when we don’t get enough in a day we can feel tired and lethargic. In some cases, being dehydrated can lead to hospitalisation and nobody wants to stay in hospital for not drinking enough water.

Is There Such a Thing as Drinking too Much Water?

As mentioned before, we need to be drinking at least 2 litres of water each day. Drinking more water won’t do any harm to you, except increase urination which helps your body get rid of unwanted toxins and keeps your bowels regular.

A good rule of thumb is to remember the 8 by 8 rule. 8 glasses a day for 8 hours, or a glass (250ml) every hour over an 8-hour period. If you drink more than a glass you will feel fuller and more likely to not eat as much, particularly if before a meal.
